The adopted concept proposes opening all recreational spaces toward the block’s interior courtyard, which serves as an extension of the school, creating an “introverted” school.
Along Tucumán Street, the building follows the street line; on Anchorena Street, there is a significant recess that comfortably accommodates a parking bay for school transportation, and, furthermore, through a level difference, light is brought into the student dining hall located in the semi-basement.
The structure is of exposed reinforced concrete with phenolic formwork. All columns, beams, and parapets are visible, but not the ceilings, which are suspended from various materials depending on the space.
95% of the masonry consists of 0.27-inch-thick solid machine-made bricks on both sides, located between the wings and circulation areas. These bricks were protected with a clear matte polyurethane paint.
All floors are made of nearly white reconstituted granite, polished and buffed on-site, except for the rear courtyard, entryways, and gym. The stairs are made of the same material, polished and buffed in a workshop. The stair nosings are protected with L-shaped profiles made of bent stainless steel sheet. The gym floor is made of Viraró wood laid over 2-inch joists, which in turn rest on neoprene pads, creating a “flexible” floor that meets standards and is suitable for any type of sport. The central courtyard, with perimeter drainage, has a green carpeted floor (synthetic grass). The floors in the entryways were constructed using San Luis green flagstone.
All classrooms and hallways have suspended ceilings made of perforated plasterboard supported by a structure of natural extruded aluminum T-profiles. The gymnasium has a ceiling made of special fire-resistant and impact-resistant fiber, as does the indoor pool.
The exterior joinery is made of black anodized aluminum, with fixed panels and casement windows. The glass is 10 mm thick, and for safety reasons, a thickening film was applied.
