The Day Centre and Residence project addresses 4 aspects: the removal of architectural barriers; the arrangement of volumes generating a free landscaped space; the relationship between the urban and social environment and the plaza that determines access via Carrer d’Icària, generating connecting views with the surroundings; and finally, the preferred orientations of daytime use spaces and residential living units.

The position of the building is primarily determined by adaptation to the trapezoidal plot, considering the natural terrain levels and the established urban planning parameters. It is articulated in two volumes connected at ground floor level, giving rise to the main entrance — made evident by a courtyard space and a canopy — where the day centre, administration, and management areas are developed.

The clarity of the circulation system, structured around a central axis connected to the vertical core and entrance lobby, is reinforced. This axis articulates the daytime use spaces: classrooms and workshops, external users’ dining room, rehabilitation gymnasium, and garden space. A secondary circulation provides support to the technical and administrative services system.

The daytime use spaces and residential living units are oriented according to the stipulated guidelines, prioritising an East–West orientation for the bedrooms developed across the three upper levels, and a southern orientation for the lounges and dining rooms, with their corresponding shading and protection systems.
